Aikiprinciples introduction

This blog will be the start of a series of posts which will help to advance in the study of aikido.

First let me introduce myself. My name is Michel Engelhart, born and raised in Beverwijk, the Netherlands. I'm 43 years old and have been studying Aikido for the last 15 years. Received first dan from an aikikai hombu dojo affiliated club called CABN( member of Aikido Netherlands) in 2009.

Why start a blog?

My training has come to a point where I'm given the opportunity to both teach and train. I've come to an understanding that in order to fully enjoy and "advance" in the practice of Aikido, it's principles are to be studied. This blog will hopefully be informative and useful for readers and myself.

My goal is to post all things concerning Aikido principles and will try to include principles of various other movement based art forms. Chinese internal martial arts are a subject which I try to study and integrate into my Aikido practice.

I' ve created both a Youtube and Facebook account to try to give aikidoists and everyone interested a platform to communicate and study. Obviously I'm not a shihan or high ranked aikidoka but an interested and sincere student of Aikido and it's principles. Therefore I hope to spread this wonderful art form across the globe.
